Essay "Violent Video Games"
Daniela and I are debating against Jessenia and Ashley F. Our topic is “Violent Video Games.” Do violent video games cause aggressive behavior? I feel they do not cause aggressive behavior, at all. They dont, because everything that is on a video game is on a Television. They can learn about all this violence on Television, because there is even more violence on television than there is on Video Games. Children also spend tons of their time watching televison.
Video Games are just for fun. They should not be taken so seriously. I wish people would take real problems that we have with violence as serious as video games. You are always able to tell a child what they are playing isn’t real. But, how can you erase something that they have seen with their own eyes, like violence in the street or on the news.
Video Games that you probably don’t think have violence in them do. For Example, Disney Games are starting to have a little bit of violence occurring in them. It has been proven that the population of video games that never once had violence in them is now beginning to have a bit of violence in them. And, I am talking about Video Games that are cartoons. Not real people, but cartoon characters. That is there hobby. What are children suppose to do, not play any video games at all?
Should we be worrying about what younger children do in their OWN homes or should we be worrying about the real problems of violence occurring in OUR society today? Real violence and danger happen more on the street, which is worse than these video games. I’m sure children have seen much more on Television or outside than they have on a video game. If a child gets mad, and wants to hurt him/herself in any way, it is not because of a video game, it is about whatever he or she is mad about. A video game did not make him/her want to hurt themselves. They take it among themselves to do that. Also, there should be a parent or guardian in the picture. The workers in the store aren't aloud to even sell violent video games to children under a certain age without a parent, depending on the rating of the game.
Video games do not cause aggressive behavior. Everything that is in video games is on television as well. Video games do not make a person to do anything. It also has been proven; that what children hear or see on Television causes more damage to the brain than any video game. They say “Younger children hear and learn more about Violence if there is an older sibling in the household.” We do hear foul language being said in video games, but most children hear that from someone in their household who uses that kind of language. Also, you may be walking down the street and hear a person use foul language. That is just the way it is. You can't blame that on a video game. It is just the kind of world we live in today. Video Games DO NOT cause aggressive behavior. *REMEMBER THEY ARE CALLED VIDEO GAMES FOR A REASON, THEY ARE JUST GAMES.*
